There is no frigate like a bookTo take us lands awayNor any coursers like a pageOf prancing poetry –This traverse may the poorest takeWithout oppress of toll –How frugal is the chariotThat bears the human soul.Emily Dickinson
Dickinson’s poem captures everything I love about reading novels. There’s nothing better than discovering a new fictional world to explore. I’m among the many who prefer to read books in series. That way I can immerse myself for longer. Maybe that’s why I also write books in series. Here’s the latest news on my series in three genres.
Epic Fantasy
I’m waiting to review the galley for SOJOURNER, after which I’ll receive a release date from my publisher. To receive an announcement when book three in the Tales of Faeraven series releases, sign up for the Creative Worlds of Janalyn Voigt e-letter.
This month I’ll finish writing DawnKing (Tales of Faeraven 4).
Western Historical Romance
Cheyenne Sunrise (Montana Gold, book 2) is on my desk again, waiting for a last edit for my copy editor. It will go through several rounds of proof reading before it releases in February 2018. To be notified when it releases, sign up for the Creative Worlds of Janalyn Voigt e-letter.
Romantic Suspense
I’m currently editing Deceptive Tide (Islands of Intrigue, book 3). To receive an announcement when this romantic suspense novel releases, sign up for the Creative Worlds of Janalyn Voigt e-letter.
Author Appearances
I just returned from the NW Book Festival in Portland and have no immediate plans to attend any more events at the moment. Right now I’m focused on writing books.
Blogging
I tell on myself in this month’s Literary Wayfarer Journal. On the way home from the NW Book Festival in Portland, my husband and I took a shortcut that brought about unintended consequences. Read Lost in the Woods.
Final Thoughts from Janalyn
After several years of reading to review books and judge literary contests. I’ve been burned out on reading. Writing the inspirational thoughts in my reader news has helped me overcome this problem. Finally, I’m chomping at the bit to lose myself in a good book once more.
Finding time to read is an issue for most of us, but we make time for what we value most. Reminding myself of the riches reading adds to my life moves it up in my priorities. How about you? Are you giving enough time to reading?
Thanks for reading!
