Decorate Your Home For Christmas

What decorations will you use to support your Christmas theme? Locate them now to make Christmas decorating easier. Make a list (and check it twice) for any decorations you want to grab during Black Friday sales. You’ll find a Christmas decorating worksheet in the free printable Christmas planner pages.

My family always picks up a Christmas tree the weekend after Thanksgiving. Establishing a tradition for when you bring home your tree prevents this Christmas task from hanging over you. It nips procrastination in the bud. Having a plan in place means you’ll automatically schedule around it, which helps organize your holiday preparations.

If you haven’t yet hung outdoor lights and put up yard decorations, it’s definitely time! Why not dedicate the weekend to this? Reward yourself and your family with hot chocolate, eggnog, pumpkin spice lattes, or peppermint mochas.

CHRISTMAS PREPARATIONS

  • If you can, let the last Friday in November be your final Christmas shopping day, including stocking-stuffer purchases. Here in the United States, that date is Black Friday. You can save a lot of money by shopping the deals on this one day, but the crowds can be intense. It helps to start early and have a plan. Going with someone you love makes it fun. Review printed ads or check for deals online ahead of time. You might want to make adjustments to your Christmas list as you look at the ads.
  • Make turkey pot pie for the freezer with leftover Thanksgiving turkey. This is a comforting meal to pop in the oven on a cold winter night. It can save you the cost of take-out food when you arrive home from a votive walk or need to rest afterpreparing for overnight guests to arrive.
