Inventory Your Kitchen
Have you ever tried to buy a glass pie plate a day or two before Thanksgiving and found none to be bought in the stores near you? Retailers can’t always anticipate the demand they’ll receive, so shortages happen. Or maybe you forgot, yet again, to pick up a gravy boat to replace the one you broke. You pull out your best Christmas tablecloth hours before the big day, only to find it needs mending. You whip up a batch of Christmas cookies but your special reindeer cookie cutters have gone missing.
These are minor annoyances, but they can dampen your holiday joy. Planning ahead eliminates a bit more holiday stress from your Christmas.
Looking over your kitchen items only takes a few minutes. Taking stock now sets you up to cook festive meals and host guests in the holidays with confidence. This week, set aside a little time to inventory your kitchen items. After all, you don’t want to be the last, lonely shopper searching for a turkey platter on Thanksgiving morning.

Prepare for Christmas
- Take inventory of your dishes, glassware, serving ware, utensils, candles and matches, table linens, and any other items to set your holiday table. List what you already have, including locations so you don’t have to hunt for anything at the last minute. Either take care of items needing repair now or schedule the repairs before Thanksgiving. Add items you need to purchase or replace to your shopping list, and pick them up as soon as possible.
- Double a meal this week and put half in your freezer to ease your schedule in December.
- Organize your Christmas binder with free printable Christmas planning worksheets. Don’t miss the worksheets to help you inventory your kitchen.
Very nice and interesting! Way to get and remain organized…less stress is always a plus.
Thanks for sharing.
Good luck and God’s blessings.
