Make Your Christmas Card List
It’s time in the Old Bohemian Christmas Plan to verify the mailing and/or email addresses for those on your Christmas card list and for holiday letter and email greetings recipients.

The Old Bohemian Homestead Christmas Plan Step 5
Make Your Christmas Card List
I love sending and receiving Christmas cards in the holiday season. It’s wonderful to hear from people close to my heart. Sending pictures along with Christmas greetings is a beautiful way to include those we care most about in our lives, no matter how far away they live. I don’t even mind the postage cost, but you can always save with emailed greeting cards. I’m partial to Jacquie Lawson’s animated cards, but American Greetings also has some nice cards.
Last year my publisher gave me a Jacquie Lawson advent calendar, a gorgeous animated village with puzzles, music, trees to decorate, clips to watch (including a favorite of chimney sweeps dancing). I enjoyed my calendar all season and whiled away many a happy break on the smashing ornaments game.
Four Reasons Sending Christmas Cards is a Pain. What to do…
Problem 1: You have to make sure you have the addresses correct for those on your Christmas card list. Fail in this, and some of your cards will probably bounce back, undelivered. That’s a pain because you then have to track down the right address or hope the person sends you a card in time for a reply before Christmas. If not, you may wind up throwing the card away with all the effort you put into sending it in the first place wasted.
Solve this by verifying addresses on your Christmas card list before the holiday season arrives.
Problem 2: You have to make and keep a picture appointment and pick up your images, an investment of time and money easy to put off or skip altogether in the Christmas rush. Even opting for candid shots takes a bit of doing.
Solve this by taking candid shots or making picture appointments ahead of time. Order prints or Christmas picture cards early. Take care of this before Christmas arrives to help spread out the cost.
Problem 3: Addressing Christmas cards is boring and takes time, right when that commodity is in short supply.
Solve this by addressing your cards before Thanksgiving so you can mail them immediately afterwards, at the start of the Christmas season.
Problem 4: I never know what to write.
Solve this by using the list of prompts I provide in week 8 of the Old Bohemian Christmas Plan.
