The Old Bohemian Homestead Christmas Plan Step 4
Make Your Purchased Christmas Gift List
Making your Christmas gift list can be difficult, so it’s nice to get this task out of the way ahead of time. This is a good time to rough out your Christmas budget, if you haven’t already. Looking at the overall picture before you shop makes for wiser choices. You may need to shorten your Christmas gift list or cut back on costs this year, but may not know that if you don’t plan ahead. It’s all too easy to be caught up in the Christmas shopping frenzy in December, and going overboard on Christmas gift purchases is a temptation we all face. Planning your gift purchases and completing your shopping before you drink that first peppermint mocha can help you stick to your budget.
Getting started with your Christmas shopping seems counter-intuitive with so much time until the big day, but come December, you’ll thank yourself for making an early effort. Shopping for Christmas gifts early gives you time to plan thoughtful gifts for those you love. It lets you spread out the costs, in terms of time and money. You’ll have less worry about a popular item that was what your husband wanted most being sold out before you can get to the store. There’s time to remember someone you forgot before your lapse turns into a last-minute crisis. And you can mail order gifts without the stress of wondering if those important packages will arrive on time.
A goal I try to achieve each year is to finish my Christmas shopping on Black Friday. Doing this helps in so many ways. The budget won’t need to strain quite so much in December. I’ll avoid waiting in crowded lines to make my purchases. Best of all, I’ll have more time to celebrate the Christmas season with my family.
