Crafting homemade Christmas gifts by hand is one of my favorite things to do, so much so that if I’m not careful my ambitions will overwhelm me. I’m learning to gauge what I can and cannot do in the time I have.
The first step for me is deciding which people on my Christmas gift list would most appreciate a homemade gift. With specific people in mind, I brainstorm and browse online to come up with just the right gifts to make for them. This is a lot of fun! Keeping the recipients in mind when choosing which homemade Christmas gifts to make is the key to giving gifts that will be treasured. In other words, just because I’d like to make something doesn’t mean Aunt Tanya wants to receive it.
Do your best to figure out what those on your homemade Christmas gift list would like to receive but don’t fret over it. When he was a boy, my husband gave his mother a toy truck for her birthday, the most awesome thing he could think of to give her. She cherished it, keeping it in plain sight on her desk. That says a lot about mother-love, doesn’t it? Our loved ones who appreciate homemade Christmas gifts will receive them with love.
