I’ll be honest. Apart from the usual journey through life, I’m not traveling anywhere this month. I am first and foremost a writer, and sometimes that leaves me chained to my desk. I’ve recently escaped that state but haven’t had enough time to plan a greater adventure. Ah, me. That will come. For now, I’m content to watch the spring rains and dream of tomorrow.
Dreaming of Tomorrows to Come
Here’s the thing. Walking through life with your eyes open makes every day special. Savoring the beauty of your surroundings, whether that be a wildflower that strayed into your lawn or a world-class garden doesn’t matter. It’s all in the perception. Let’s revisit one of my poems to feature this thought.
Focus
By Janalyn Voigt
Cracks split the pavement
And nurture weeds,
But in the garden flowers bloom.
I choose my world.
What do you see when you examine your life? Weeds or blooms? Maybe it hasn’t turned out the way you hoped. Dashed dreams make it hard to accept the beauty staring you in the face.
Life is like playing a violin in public and learning the instrument as one goes on. Samuel Butler
None of us chooses to be born. Once life is thrust upon us, we’re loath to leave it. And yet, someday we must. When that fated moment arrives, will you have lived your best life? That is the question we all face.
Answer it well, my friend.
My own journey unfolds slowly before me. Giving to others through my writing is my abiding passion. What is yours?
Tomorrow promises horizons unimagined. We must divest ourselves of fruitless activities that prevent us from capturing our dreams. When we set ourselves up to live our best lives, the rewards are peace and contentment.
