What a delight to finally offer Sojourner, Tales of Faeraven book 3, to epic fantasy readers. This book has been a long time coming. I didn’t plan to leave some readers hanging about what happened to Kai for so long. Others have expressed interest in the fate of Elcon’s baby. My lips are sealed. There will be no spoilers here, I promise.
The Tales of Faeraven series was delayed by its author’s chronic illness. I’ve always been hail and hearty, so that came as a surprise. It served as a wake-up call that helped motivate me to capture a better quality of life. Deciding I would like to be around awhile, I began a campaign to reduce stress (quite a feat for an author), eat better, and exercise more. (I’m still working on that last item.) But I digress.

About the Authors
J.L. Mbewe
Writing as J. L. Mbewe, Jennette is a tale-spinning, stargazing, rock collecting, art dabbling Hufflepuff. She loves taking readers on adventures filled with fantastical creatures and characters, all questing about and discovering true love amid lots of peril. When she isn’t writing, she’s an undercover graphic designer at PalaCreative.
Bonus Book: Secrets Kept by J.L. Mbewe
With a curse, she will build an army.
With the dagger, she will undo the last sacrifice.
But first the sorceress must find the secret keeper.
Torn from her homeland and thrust into a betrothal against her wishes, Ayianna learns her family has a deadly secret that now has her on the run. She joins forces with Kael, an embittered half-elf, and Saeed, an elderly High Guardian, to seek answers to her father’s death, the destruction of Dagmar, and the plains people’s bizarre behavior.
Ayianna discovers there is more at stake here than just her mother’s disappearance and her familial duty to her betrothed. The sorceress has cursed the plains people, and it is a race against time to release them before the sorceress resurrects an ancient evil.
Heather L.L. Fitzgerald
Author Heather L.L. FitzGerald writes from her home in Texas, while dreaming of being back in the Pacific Northwest, where she grew up. When she’s not drinking copious amounts of coffee or planning her next escape, she’s taming dragons, teaching leprechauns manners, and judging animal tricks among her gnome friends. Many of these antics can be discovered in The Tethered World Chronicles, Heather’s award-winning YA Fantasy trilogy.
Bonus Book: For Such a Time as This: Snow White Reimagined by Heather L.L. Fitzgerald
Queen Vashti the Fair is not only the wife of King Xerxes, she is also—secretly—an enchantress. But thanks to Haman’s flirting she now has a new distinction: deposed. While Vashti loses perks like her holographic trousseau, Haman continues to enjoy his position as second in command, much to Vashti’s vexation.
Mordecai was once a soldier in the king’s private guard, but has since carved out a self-sufficient life for himself and niece Esther. Although citizens are required to have an identity chip for governmental transactions, he and Esther live off the grid and out of big-government’s greedy reach.
Or so he thought.
When Mordecai’s old nemesis, Haman, turns up demanding Esther’s participation in the king’s upcoming beauty pageant, Mordecai arranges to have her transported to the Vale of Seven Dragons for protection. But not before Esther’s charm makes her a target on Vashti’s radar, as Vashti seeks to undermine the outcome of Xerxes’ hunt for a new queen.
Esther is caught between loyalty to her uncle and fear for her future—whether in the care of dragons or in the palace of the king. Will she be brave enough to embrace her destiny, wherever that may be?
Rebecca P. Minor
Rebecca P. Minor has given up pretending to fit in. She’s way too enthusiastic about an epic swordfight, loves fancy rats (even though they give her hives), and has been telling stories since the early 1980s, if you count offering a very abbreviated version of The Amityville Horror to rapt 9-year-old classmates on a school bus.
More recently, she has released her fantasy trilogy The Windrider Saga. She’s currently working on a book whose title refuses to reveal itself, so for now, it shall simply be referred to as “the sequel to Curse Bearer.” When she’s not writing, she masterminds the annual Realm Makers Writer’s Conference or picks up the occasional children’s illustration project. At all times, she’s the wife to Scott, who does all the heavy lifting in terms of making her crazy ideas work, and the mom to three teen boys, who are surprisingly tolerant of her bad use of meme-speak.
Bonus Book: Curse Bearer by Rebecca L. Minor
In a world of stolen power, the ignorant pay with their souls.
When Danae Baledric flees her homeland in search of a cure for a degenerative malady that’s killing her father, she never expects the journey to teach her the price of her own ignorance. On a trek across foreign lands, Danae learns that beyond her own struggle, an eternal war rages. That conflict claims its victims one soul at a time.
Danae’s investigation reveals not only that her father teeters close to falling victim to sinister machinations, but also how her magical dabbling has spurred a hunt for her. Power, even employed in ignorance, has a cost.
An unexpected ally extends to Danae a chance to conquer her father’s fate. This same chance also offers her deliverance from a debt she never realized her enemies were tallying against her. But something bars Danae from claiming redemption—her insistence that she must achieve her goals in her own strength.
It’s an epic tale of curses and miracles, where headstrong ignorance creates bondage, and the desire to serve offers freedom.
