Nowhere to Go

Snow blanketed the ground Monday morning, whether or not that was convenient. It wasn’t. Between an appointment and a release celebration for my newest novel, Stagecoach to Liberty (Montana Gold, book 3), the day promised to be hectic. With so many places to go, the last thing I wanted was to navigate snowy streets.

It soon became clear that it wouldn’t be a matter of going anywhere. The possible ways to leave our house involved driving down now-impassible hills or traveling on back roads in deep tree shadow.

My husband called into work, then fretted that he had nothing to do. He eventually solved the problem, but not before a lot of angst. I rescheduled my appointment and bowed out of my own release celebration (a small part of a larger meeting).

Once I recovered from the annoyance of having my day completely rewritten for me, I couldn’t help noticing the joy of having nowhere to go. Sometimes, that’s exactly what you need.

Epic Fantasy

I just reviewed the galley for DawnKing (Tales of Faeraven, book 4). I’ll admit to being a little emotional when I sent it off, like one of my children on the first day of school. Sojourner (Tales of Faeraven, book 3) launches in October.

What’s next for the epic fantasy genre? Look for the novella, Elf Seeyer, in summer 2019.
