Decide on Christmas Activities and Gatherings
Ever feel like the holiday season flew right by before you could catch it? I know I have. Planning your Christmas activities and gatherings now can make all the difference in preventing a runaway Christmas.
By thinking ahead, you’ll have an answer to give when family members ask your plans. Too often, when you have to coordinate schedules, decisions get left up in the air until too late to plan them well and without stress. Don’t let this happen to you! In my own life, I’ve learned that planning Christmas activities and gatherings in advance means that relatives who don’t do this will often fit their plans around my schedule. If you have relatives you want to see at Christmas who leave you hanging until the last minute, this may help you too.
Leave a little flex in your schedule so you can give a little, though, and be careful about packing too much into one brief Christmas season. Make more out of less.
Organizing around the theme you chose last week helps you narrow the possibilities. If you want an old world Christmas, for example, you might schedule a horse-drawn sleigh ride but skip the lights extravaganza. If it’s a country Christmas for you, missing the Dickens fair in favor of cutting your own tree in a National Forest might be in order. Refer to your notes from last week, when you interviewed your family about what they wanted Christmas to be like this year. If you missed that step, just do it now.
