She’s been running, but the truth is bent on finding her…

Once a teenage runaway, Kate Jennings is finally getting her life together. She’s moving to picturesque Shaw Island, Washington to marry the man of her dreams—billionaire Chase Cole. Chase is everything she could want in a man. He’s handsome, smart, and funny…so what if he’s thirty years her senior? The only trouble is, the media won’t put to rest the disappearance of his previous wife. For Kate, the rumor that he might have had something to do with it pales in comparison to the dangerous past she’s on the run from. With Chase’s financial resources, she can stay safe. And alive.

Josh Collins thought he was visiting Shaw Island for a relaxing weekend with friends. Until he met beautiful, mysterious Kate, the unlikely fiancée of a notorious billionaire who’s old enough to be her father. Josh feels drawn to protect this woman from the loveless marriage she’s careening toward and the deadly secret she’s refusing to reveal.

Will real love find them in time to save her?

Tide Will Tell is the enjoyable 2nd book in the Islands of Intrigue series.

The author does an amazing job of ramping up the tension and raising lots of questions that make this suspense an edge-of-your-seat read. The romance between the hero and heroine is very sweet. And because of all the tension that filled the book the ending really gives you that "ah ha" moment that is so important to a good romance.

While the books are connected, either can be read alone, so don't worry if you haven't read the first one yet, you can dive right in.

In Tide Will Tell by Lesley Ann McDaniel, Kate is running from the law. She is desperate enough to glam onto Chase Cole, a kind man who is 30 years her senior and just so happens to be a billionaire. They are engaged with a quick wedding planned. They will live on his estate in a remote island in the San Juans. Isolation being her security (or, so she thinks). Arriving on Shaw Island, Kate quickly finds there is a lot she doesn’t know about Chase, including the fact that 2 of his wives are presumed dead at his hands and that he has 2 children staying at the San Juan house, along with lots of their friends. Shaw Island is not the isolated haven she imagined.

Mix in Josh Collins, a boy her age. They have a lot in common and a chemistry builds between them. Josh challenges her thinking about the source of true security. He is hired as security guard for Kate as things get trickier with paparazzi, reporters and irate friends of the 2nd wife from nearby Friday Harbor.

Kate is a woman who keeps making iffy decisions. She goes from one scrape to another, leaving a trail of people behind her. For example, the murder she witnessed. She is afraid of the law and the repercussion of being an accomplice because of not volunteering information. She is terrified of Joe, the murderer. Now, it seems her fiancé is a murderer as well. Kate thinks she knows who to trust. Read Tide will Tell to join Kate’s quandary and see if her decision making improves.

I love the San Juans and have sailed in them many times; so, I started this series intrigued. I have read Unrelenting Tide by Lynnette Bonner, the 1st in the Islands of Intrigue San Juans trilogy, and really enjoyed it. ( https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1... ) The Tide Will Tell was a great 2nd book in the series. Each book can be read alone.

SPOILER:
While I was not surprised by who the murderer was, I was surprised by the resurrection of a critical person. We all love surprises. :)

Good suspenseful story about a runaway that seems to find danger. First she tuns from her abusive stepfather, then from a murderous boss and thinks she has has found safety with a multimillionaire. But in the last week before her marriage, she begins to wander if he played a role in the disappearance of his 2 previous wives. Who can she trust? And why does her heart feel so conflicted?
This story will keep you guessing, was a very good read indeed.

Although listed as the second in a book series, with each book written by different authors, Tide Will Tell stands alone as its own novel.

This was one fun to read suspense! The heroine, Kate, has gotten herself into quite the predicament with various decisions she has made in her life. Now, she believes she has found the protection she needs from those who are after her. Her marriage to a very wealthy man seems like the solution to her problems.

Josh finds himself in a sticky situation as well…attracted to someone else’s fiancée! He questions whether Kate is really in love with the older and richer man, or if there is more to her desire to marry Chase than meets the eye. When it looks like Kate may be in danger, will Josh be able to protect Kate without knowing who is really after her?

I enjoyed how the author had many possibilities out there for who might be trying to harm Kate. Sometimes it was difficult watching Kate and worrying that she wasn’t always making the best decisions, but that added to the tension! The developing feelings between Kate and Josh were enjoyable to read about. The author did a great job of showing how Kate put her trust in herself and eventually in her fiancé for the protection she needed, but she hadn’t been willing to trust God. I really enjoyed when Kate became willing to hand her situation over to God and look to Him for deliverance. This was a very enjoyable and well-written contemporary, romantic suspense.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review, which I have given.

I just finished Tide Will Tell and it was awesome. This second book in the Islands of Intrigue: San Juans was full of suspense. Several things going on at the same time. While Kate is planning her wedding to Chase Cole, she's also trying to stay out of the limelight so she won't be found by Joe Malone. Kate witnessed something that keeps her running.

Josh has come to the island to spend a few days with college friends now that they have graduated. When his summer job falls through, he agrees to protect Kate because he needs money to start film school in the fall.

When she meets Josh Collins, they develop a quick and easy friendship. Josh helps out when she needs to run errands and then Chase hires him to be Kate's protection. Protecting Kate isn't too hard until he realizes that he's falling for another man's fiancé. And he spends time trying to get her to change her mind about marrying Chase, whom already has 2 wives who have come up dead or missing.

Murder, mystery and mayhem. This book covers all three quite nicely.

One of my measures for a well written book is page turning. I finished this book last night. I started reading about 10:30 and the next thing I knew it was 2:30 in the morning! I had devoured more than half the book and was about 80 percent done. Even then I couldn't put the thing down.
Lesley effectively ramped up the suspense with each chapter. Making it impossible to stop reading. By the time I got to the ending, I could not read fast enough to keep up with my curiosity.
The ending was thoroughly satisfying and I would love to see these characters again because the characters are real with believable personalities and problems.
This book is an excellent follow-up to the first novel in the series by Lynnette Bonner, The Unrelenting Tide. The two books are linked by local and a few common characters. In fact, this story seems to be taking place at the same time as the previous one.
I highly recommend this excellent book. Block out some time, find a comfy reading spot and dive in.

This story, while a strong romance, flourishes with constant tension. What seem to be imagined ravings of a fearful woman, become real threats. Sinister and terrorizing. Without giving too much away, a perplexing mystery with shades of Daphne du Maurier's, Rebecca, this story held me til the final page!

I love Kate. She's a survivor. A WAIF with a spine of iron. She thinks she needs rescuing. Relies on her new fiance for safety. Desperately needs people around her. But she grows through this story, revealing her true, whimsical personality and strength she never knew she had.

This plot is full of enticing conflict, not only because of the secrets, but also from the diverse values the different players entertain.

I loved this great mystery and love story! I usually enjoy mysteries and the fun of solving the mystery along with the main characters. This mystery was so full of twists and turns that it kept me guessing until the very end. Even the epilog had unpredictable elements! The characters are well developed and likable and the story had a good pace to it. While this is part of a series, you can easily read it without having read the first one, as it’s a stand alone novel. I haven’t read the first one, but will definitely read it also. The author did a great job and I will look for other books she has written.

Kate Jennings is headed for a loveless marriage to a man that is old enough to be her father. Secrets on top of secrets hover over the family and Kate has some of her own. Kate and Josh Collins are drawn to one another. It's a good thing because there is a killer loose. This was another book that I really enjoyed the ending.

Could not get into this book. I found myself not caring about anyone and reluctant to read (which does not happen often). I finally just gave up.
